Why should people who care deeply about Haiti’s future support ESPWA?
- To follow the lead of Haiti’s own people. No other organization working for Haiti listens to the residents of the areas in which it works–and makes their priorities its own priorities–the way that ESPWA does.
- To attract international support for Haiti-led economic development. ESPWA shows international funders that they can trust Haitian community leaders and non-governmental organizations and invest for the long run.
- To build Haiti’s resources for the future. ESPWA strengthens the network of non-governmental organizations in Haiti and helps create a philanthropic sector, both in Haiti and in the diaspora.
Establishing a Community Foundation is hard work and is our highest priority. Establishing a Community Foundation in Haiti with its history of decades of lack of inclusion in decision making by those most impacted by those decisions requires a reawakening of ‘espwa fe viv.” It requires a reawakening of pride and a recollection of Haiti’s rich history and buried memories of self-sufficiency and independence.
Working to establish a Community Foundation with all volunteer labor and limited funding requires endurance, commitment and faith in the Haiti that can be.
Much work has been done, but there is so much more yet to be done. We invite you to become a partner. Consider the following partnership opportunities.
Administrative Support
Help us to establish an office in Port au Prince, and in the Grand ‘Anse area. We are in need of donated space, office equipment, supplies, and etc.
Transportation
Many years post- earthquake, many of Haiti’s roads are impassable. We are in need of transportation in the Grand ‘Anse region where our pilot project is conducted.
